Identification of problem grids within a wheat and corn field by the implementation of a process-oriented precision farming crop growth model

چکیده
The objective of this study was to use the process-oriented precision farming crop growth model APOLLO to identify problem grids for crop production within a field. The model was calibrated for a wheat and a corn field. During the calibration process soil parameters were adjusted iteratively for each grid within the fields, using a simulated annealing algorithm. This procedure gave good yield estimates for most of the grids within the fields. However, simulated yields in some grids of the field remained as outliers and thus did not fit the 1:1line of the model calibration. The data points were categorized based on the standard deviation between measured and simulated yields to identify outliers. Thus the model calibration provided information about soil parameters causing yield variability in some grids and identified grids in the field with unknown reasons for yield variability. Based on these results crop models can be used to identify grids in the field where the variation in yield is not caused by soil properties or other processes incorporated into the crop model.

Agriculture of the inland arid region in Xinjiang depends on irrigation, which forms oasis of Northwest China. The production and water use of wheat, a dominant crop there, is significantly affected by undergoing climate variability and change. The objective of this study is to quantify inter-annual variability of wheat yield and water use from 1955 to 2006. The farming systems model APSIM (Agr...

ABSTRACT-In conventional agriculture, a large amount of energy is consumed in fuel consumption and depreciation of farm tractors and any other farm equipment mostly in tillage and planting operations. The main purpose of this research was to evaluate a till-planting unit equipped with three jointers. This unit was expected to act as conventional furrow openers such as shovel openers tilling the...
متن کاملIntegrative impacts of soil tillage on crop yield, N use efficiency and greenhouse gas emission in wheat-corn cropping system
Wheat-corn cropping system is one of the most important grain production systems in theworld. However, the integrative impacts of soil tillage on crop yield, N use efficiency (NUE)and greenhouse gases (GHGS) emissions are not well documented in this system. Thus, a twoyear field experiment was carried out in a typical wheat-corn cropping system with four tillageregimes during the wheat season, ...

Crop rows oriented at a right angle to sunlight direction (i.e., east–west within the winter cropping system in Western Australia) may suppress weed growth through greater shading of weeds in the interrow spaces. This was investigated in the districts of Merredin and Beverley, Western Australian (latitudes of 31u and 32uS) from 2002 to 2005 (four trials). Winter grain crops (wheat, barley, cano...
